SO WHAT MAKES SERS SO SPECIAL?
Quite simply, its ability to take Raman into a whole new world of sensitivity and thereby open up a world of analytical possibilities.
Raman spectroscopy offers fast, nondestructive, non-invasive analysis of molecular structure and identity – but it lacks sensitivity. This means it can’t be used for
trace level analysis.
But SERS increases the normally very weak Raman signals as much as a million-fold for trace level samples, providing ultra high sensitivity at picogram levels and
less.
SO WHY HASN’T SERS CAUGHT ON?
Although the SERS effect has been known for over 30 years it has not yet been adopted outside specialist research labs because – until now – no-one has been able to
make substrates that give reproducible SERS signals.
SO WHAT’S NEW?
The unique Klarite™ range of SERS substrates from D3. Klarite™ is designed and manufactured using the same photolithographic processes used in the semiconductor
industry. This makes the substrates inherently reproducible and means they can be produced in large volumes, making Klarite™ an affordable and accessible tool for a
wide range of analytical applications.
WHAT CAN KLARITE™ TECHNOLOGY DO FOR ME?
The Klarite™ range of substrates enable faster trace level molecular analysis of chemical and biological samples at lower detection limits for a wide range of
applications. Examples include: homeland security, forensics, medical diagnostics and chemical and pharmaceutical drug discovery.
WHAT DO I NEED?
Klarite™ is compatible with many current Raman spectrometer systems. For ease of use, the substrates are available mounted on standard 75x25mm microscope slides, or as
unmounted chips.
Tell us the configuration of your Raman system and we’ll check its compatibility with Klarite™.
WHAT DO I DO NEXT?
Just fill in the form below to request a SERS demonstration* sample.
* The free demonstration sample is a Klarite slide, pre-coated with a monolayer of molecules of a test sample. The monolayer covers the SERS-active and non-active
gold surface of the Klarite chip, so that you can see the SERS advantage for yourself. Please note that this precoated sample cannot be used to perform further
analyses.
